Three days is a perfect amount of time to discover Edinburgh. With a population of only about half a million, it's a walkable, manageable city. People are friendly and as a solo visitor, I felt safe both day and night. I spent one day in Old Town, one in New Town and the last day at Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace.
